Billie is a movie starring Patty Duke as a very talented tomboy. Although distanced from her fellow girls at school, she finds happiness in running and in teaching a new student how to run better. When seen running, she is offered a position on the school's track team, the only female present. This being an age when girls did not commonly perform on athletic teams, Billie's position creates a scandal in the strait-laced town where she lives.
