Barge captain Jean meets Juliette and the couple marry before embarking on a honeymoon aboard the barge, which is manned by Jules and a cabin boy. Arriving in Paris the couple are stranded on board the barge for a short period until they finally get to spend a night on the town. As the couple enjoy the Paris nightlife another man asks Juliette to run away with him and sends Jean into a jealous rage that changes their lives forever.
