This Indian Hindi drama film was released in theaters in 2012. Based on true events, the film tells the story of a woman who tried to leave an abusive prearranged marriage. After being captured and put on trail for attempting to escape, she was sexually assaulted by the village council . Now in jail for murdering her husband, it has been revealed that her husband actually helped the council sexually assault his own wife. The film sends a strong message on the status of woman in India, where abuse and prearranged marriages are still very common.
